How to Upload a Background File to a Trimble

Siteworks Backgrond Images

  • 1. Siteworks Backgrond Images

I actually similar the apply of background images in Siteworks but I can't seem to get them to sync through TCC when I create the Background Images folder in my Trimble Sync binder .  The only fashion I tin can become them to my T7 is by using a pollex drive.  I think that we should be able to have the option to add together a image in the Chore Site Manager.  Now I could be doing this all wrong but I have not been able to find a workflow describing how to get this to you TSC7 or T7.

    Hullo Ben,

Yous are correct that the TBC > TCC (or WorksManager) > Siteworks workflows do not currently back up including images. Only objects that can be included in a VCE or VCL file are supported; images are referenced from outside of the VCE.

In Siteworks, the background image folder syncs to TCC and tin pull down an prototype if in that location is i, but (since TBC and WM do not support them) the groundwork folder needs to exist loaded into TCC first.

If you desire, please submit an Idea particular here in the customs to add together this functionality within TBC. Thank y'all.

    David.

Thanks for getting back to me I actually appreciate it.  Knowing that now I retrieve I have come upwards with a workflow to deal with until it is integrated into TBC.  I will create a new mail service every bit an enhancement request going over how I think it could exist added to the projection.  For at present I will just get through the steps I have created and have worked for me.

GETTING Background IMAGES INTO SITEWORKS FROM TBC USING TCC

    1. In TBC bring in the Google Prototype or use the default groundwork image from Trimble Connect. (Note: to employ the background image from Trimble Connect you must first take a site calibration or your site defined with a know coordinate system)
    2. Create a plotbox around the surface area of the image you wish to see equally your groundwork in Siteworks and give the plotbox a good proper name so that you can choose it easily in the next step.
      1. Use the Capture command in the images ribbon. Brand sure you lot have all your layer and surfaces turned off or else they will show upwardly on the image which will exist disruptive with the line piece of work you have in each pattern.  Select the the resolution you wish for the image you are almost to create.  In the "Select Plotbox" pull down tab, select the plotbox you lot created in the footstep #3 and hit apply. (NOTE:  Siteworks tin can merely handle an epitome with the max pixel height & width of 8192x8192.  So in one case you have captured you image go to your TBC project folder and look in the "Snapshots" folder and yous will see that it created the .jpg, .jgw and .kml files.  Correct click on the .jpg file and go to the properties and and then click on the details tab.  This will give you your photo dimensions.  If your image is larger than the 8192x8192 y'all will demand to delete it.  You tin can delete the first epitome capture in the capture prototype dialog box by right clicking on the image proper noun and select delete.  You will demand to either edit the size of your plotbox or the resolution you selected in the capture command and capture a new paradigm.  The size and resolution volition be based off your needs.  I haven't tried information technology even so just I am guess you could tile your plotboxes and created multiple images for larger sites if college resolution is desired.)
    3. Now log into TCC.  In the administrative tool area select "Filespace" then "Trimble Synchronizer Data" and so the "device" you lot want to use. And so select " Trimble SCS900 Data".  Go to the project y'all wish to associate the background image to.  In that folder you lot volition run into you site information such as the .dc, .cal, .csv files and and your design and piece of work order folders.  In the upper right hand corner there is an option to create a folder.  Create a new folder and proper noun it "Background Images"  Make sure this folder is in you main project folder level!  Not inside the designs or work society folders.
    4. Re-create the .jpg, .jgw and .kml files from your PC TBC "snapshots" folder.  Using TCC Explorer on your PC go to your to the newly created binder that should now appear in your "TCC Explorer".  Get to the organization binder then to "TrimbleSychronizerData" and then to the device so to the project that y'all created the Background Images folder in TCC.  And then paste the files into the "Background Images" folder.  Your image files are now on the deject.
    5. Now open Siteworks and the project that you lot are going to apply the background image with.  Get to Data Management then WorksManager Sync and sync your project.  The files will now be downloaded from TCC.
    6. On your main screen in Siteworks hit the gear button on the right side of the screen.  This take you to the map options for what yous meet on your screen.
    7. Select the Images tab.
    8. Siteworks should recongnize the the "Background Images" binder that was downloaded from TCC and the paradigm should already be selected.  If non you can hit the "+" push and navigate to the .jpg.
    9. At present just check the "Display groundwork paradigm" box and you image should appear in your back ground.

At present if you run your part sync your Trimble Sync  binder on your PC will be updated with the Groundwork Images folder and the 3 files that you copy and pasted into it using TCC Explorer.  Now if yous need to update the background image with a different image you and simply re-create and paste the files into the Trimble Sync folder on your PC and run part sync and information technology will push the new background image to TCC.  However, if you lot are using the same default prototype name yous must first get to your TSC7 or T7 and delete the background image files from the Background Images binder.  Otherwise when you sync your device it volition non pull down the new files because the have the same names and for whatsoever reason information technology does not see that in that location is a file size or time stamp difference.  I am certain you tin can put multiple images and there associated files (.jgw) into the Background Images binder on your PC's Trimble Sync folder and run part sync to get them to deject although I have not yet tried that.

I will try to get a video put upwardly with all the steps if I tin figure that out lol.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for all the thought and work you put into this, Ben. I am certain that your instructions will help other users with the same goal. Please do submit an Idea for others to "vote up".

You can too use TCC Sync to upload Images from the Background Images folder on your PC to the correct folders on TCC -if you utilise Role Sync - don't use TCC sync for all folders, only those that don't sync with Office Sync processes.
